We follow the 7-steps Development Process:
- Understanding Client's Requirements
- Drawing up the Project Plan
- Defining Tasks — for the Approved Project
- Developing the Prototype
- Project Development
- Quality Assurance & Testing
- Deployment and Final Acceptance
Step 1: Understanding Client's Requirements
For new entrants
- Define objective of the project
- Identify target audience and their existing education/skill base
- Define their training needs
- Suggest appropriate technologies that can be used
- Assess costs involved and benefits accrued
For existing players
- Define objective of the project
- Determine target audience training needs
- Ascertain whether the project will replace/supplement existing training methods
- Appraise technology already deployed and scope for new technology
- Assess costs involved and benefits accrued
Step 2: Drawing up the Project Plan
- Specify course structure and content
- Define technologies to be used
- Outline time frame for completion of the project
- Specify the cost structure
- Submit Project Plan to the client for approval and finalization. Formal agreement
is then signed with the client
Step 3: Defining Tasks — for the approved project
Appointing a project leader to supervise progress and adhere to time schedules
- Assigning specific tasks to each member of the team - research, content creation,
content management, visualization, graphics design, programming, client servicing,
documentation and regular backups
- Defining directory structure, which helps in future modifications and facilitates
project handling
- Creating a Quality Assurance Test Plan
- Developing content that includes - factual information, text, graphics, multimedia
and audio-video components
Step 4: Developing the Prototype
- Based on the approved project plan, a prototype is developed that takes into account:
- Structure of storyboard that fulfills client requirements
- Design, layout, look and feel of the project as per the needs of the target audience
- Instructional design methodologies (Chicago Manual of Style, MSTP) to ensure best
instructional value in a self-learning environment
- User-friendly navigation structure
- Quality standards
The Prototype is submitted to the client for approval.
Step 5:Project Development
- The final course structure content is developed by defining the lessons, headings,
topics and sub-topics
- Content accuracy, content coverage, logical flow of content and relevance to user
groups are validated
- Correctness and relevance of media elements - text, graphics, animations, audio,
video etc. - to user groups is validated
- The intermediate storyboards are sent to the client for review as required
- Graphics are optimized for smallest file size while displaying clear and crisp images
- Interactive content like animations, games etc. are developed
- Different media elements are integrated
- Tentative schedules are drawn up and adhered to
- Regular backups are taken to avoid calamities
Step 6: Quality Assurance & Testing
- We rigorously test the project as per the Quality Assurance Test Plan developed
in step 3 to locate and eliminate errors
- We test and check the project on the following parameters:
- Content, navigation and proper use of different media elements
- Whether the project is easily accessible to the end user through the internet and
is compatible with all computers, even the older ones
- Usability and user experience - (the course is run through a sample user population
and the feedback is integrated)
- Conformance to e-learning standards
- Performance and stability across browsers and platforms
Step 7: Deployment and Final Acceptance
- The project is installed and deployed on the client's server or on a CD - ROM
- Final sign off from the client for the project
